GCSE Maths Grade Boundaries

Having analysed grade boundaries, these are the grade boundaries I recommend to teachers and students. These can be used as threshold for in class assessments.

Interesting points before deciding whether a student should sit Higher or Foundation:

  • Students are expected to score full marks on all Grade 3-5 questions of Higher papers to score 33%, which is equivalent to a Grade 5
  • Students are expected to score full marks on all Grade 1-4 questions of Foundation papers to score 70%, which is equivalent to a Grade 5.
  • It is assumed that if a student knows the content inside-out they will still lose some marks, but will be able to pickup elsewhere.
